Stock Corvette Stingray (that is, not a Gran Sport) at the Goodwood Historics. While the Corvette was regularly waxed by Shelby Cobras in the SCCA's B Production class in the mid 1960's, and rarely even entered in FIA races, somebody gave the Stingray a whirl in the U.K. back then. And, after a few seasons, when the Cobra became more valuable as a collector car than a race car, the Stingray (and the C-3) went on to "own" B Production for many a year.
Ed Welburn, Vice President of Design at General Motors, says the new C-7 will have styling cues from the original Stingray. That makes me smile, although the C-7 looks a lot like the C-6 in spy shots. Which is also fine: to my eye, the C-6 is the best looking 'Vette since the C-2 Stingray.
